Reiner Ginzel

studied with Prof. Karl Grosch, a pupil of the legendary cellist Julius Klengel, then with Natalja Schochowskaja, assistant of Mstislaw Rostropowitsch.

He worked with and was much influenced by the composers Krzysztof Penderecki, Hans-Werner Henze and Pierre Boulez or singers as Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Peter Schreier. Reiner Ginzel worked as solocellist in various major German orchestras. Along with Prof. Kalafusz, he has been a member of the Deutsches Streichtrio since 1980.

He was appointed to professor of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München in 1986 and acts as international juror (e.g. ARD Music Competition). A close cooperation connects him with the Henle-Verlag (new edition of various cello compositions of Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Dvorak, Debussy etc.)

He has performed in most European countries as well as America, Africa and south-east Asia. His numerous radio and CD recordings received critical acclaim.
